ALLOYS FOR THE ARTS

METAL SIL-CAR snc / ALLOYS FOR THE ARTS

For each of these alloys we have carried out the following tests:

104

stampo prova colabilità 3

stampo prova colabilità 2

msc 321

Castability test with the purpose of testing the attitude of the molten material to flow and fill a form. The castability of the alloys, in this case, was evaluated by measuring the length of the path that the material in the molten state has carried in a channel of small cross-section, before it has stopped due to the solidification. The channels used in this test have a spiral configuration, as shown in the picture, besides, the mold temperature is 250 ᵒ and it is equipped  with the ceramic filter dispenser ø 50 h 140 mm.

Weldability test with the purpose of testing the attitude of a material to weld its parts or other material by melting.

Machinability test with the purpose to test the attitude of the material to produce cuttings when worked with machines that remove the material.
[ozy_royal_slider slider_id=”36″]
Polishability test with the purpose of testing the attitude of the material to be polished.
[ozy_royal_slider slider_id=”46″]
Corrosion test weathering: consists of exposing samples to the elements (rain, wind, sun, etc.) And keep visually monitored each month (photo documentation) to assess the reaction of the alloy and the change occuring. The details shown in photos are in part left natural and partly surface treated with paints based on acrylic resins.
N.B.   Despite several months exposed to the weather agents the alloy acquires again its initial brightness with the support of a common cleaning product for metals ( the product has been tested by our company and is produced by company Brasso).

DESCRIPTION DATA SHEET SILVER MSC 12

Our experience in the metallurgic industry of copper alloys has led us to develop an innovative alloy for the artistic,  architectural and ornamental fields.
The alloy we named SILVER MSC 12 has the following features:
-Polished silver colour which remains bright over the years.
-Particularly recommended for artistic-ornamental works where required a silver/nickel colour avoiding the nickeling process on melt objects with common alloys (brass-bronze).
-The great advantage is that you can finish the surface of the melt piece in several different ways (satin polish rough etc.); if the sculpture or the ornamental object needs to be touched up in order to mask an imperfection, you can do it using as a basis the same alloy, whereas you cannot make small repairing interventions on a nickel-plate object, as they could ruin the surface.
-Excellent resistance to oxidation and discrete resistance to the atmospheric agents.
-Possibility to chemically treat the surface (patination) in order to obtain customized tints and shades. IT IS RECOMMENDED NOT TO ALTER THE COLOUR OF THE ALLOY WHICH HAS BEEN CREATED ON PURPOSE.
-Excellent castability, fluency and fluidity, due to the high content of manganese.
-Melting point 1130°-1140° AVOID TOO HIGH TEMPERATURES WHICH COULD MAKE THE ZINC EVAPORATE.
-Good formability.
-Excellent polishability, for mirror surfaces.
-Good TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) weldability with filler materials of the same alloy.
-Specific mass 8,7 Kg/dm3.
-The material is supplied in ingots weighing around 13/14 Kg. or in the shapes required.
-For the fusion we suggest crucible or low stewing electric induction furnaces.

DESCRIPTION DATA SHEET MSC 12 Bi ECO (without Pb)

The attention our company gives to the environment has led us to develop an ecological version of our alloy, patented  MSC12. Therefore, we have produced the newly MSC12 Bi without lead.
This alloy protects the environment while maintaining the peculiarities of our ” white bronze” MSC12.
MSC 12Bi features:
-Provides the same shade of colour of MSC12
-Good weldability
-Good polish

DESCRIPTION DATA SHEET MSC 12 Ni Free/Bi

Alloy developed for the production of particular for jewelry by casting or centrifugal casting. The alloy does not contain, neither Nickel nor Lead, it is completely hypoallergenic , and it can be used therefore in direct contact with the skin. The physical / mechanical properties are similar to our league MSC 12. Available in ingots 5kg or size of 20x20x20 mm (see description page MSC12).

DESCRIPTION DATA SHEET GOLD  MSC A6

Our experience in the metallurgic industry of copper alloys has led us to develop an innovative alloy for the artistic,  architectural and ornamental fields.
The alloy we named GOLD MSC A6 has the following features:
-Colour: gold-plated yellow (18k) with a much warmer tonality than the colour of the brass used in foundry.
-Excellent resistance to oxidation and to the atmospheric agents.
-Possibility to chemically treat the surface (patination) in order to obtain customized tints and shades. IT IS RECOMMENDED NOT TO ALTER THE COLOUR OF THE ALLOY WHICH HAS BEEN CREATED ON PURPOSE.
-Excellent castability, due to the absence of volatile elements (ex: zinc) with consequent removal of scraps on the stamps and of the annoying white smokes during the casting process, in favour of a healthier working place.
-Melting point 1120°-1150° with the possibility of raising the temperature up to 1200°  without damaging the chemical-physical structure of the alloy when it comes to particularly complicated castings.
-The level of alluminium in alloys forms an oxid film on the melt bath protecting it from the external agents like oxygen and hydrogen.
-Good formability
-Excellent polishability, for mirror, satin, rough, opaque surfaces etc.
-Good TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) weldability with commercial filler materials (alloy Cu 92 Al 8) of the same colour tone of the alloy.
-Specific mass 7,80 Kg/dm3
-The material is supplied in ingots weighing around 13/14 Kg. or in the shapes required.
-For the fusion we suggest crucible or low stewing electric induction furnaces.
